The Best Guide For Buying The Right Size Tieks

I LOVE shoes. They are my favorite thing to purchase, wear and travel with. There are many types of shoes I love, but my most favorites are Tieks. Tieks are my go to shoe of choice thanks to their amazing comfort level, durability, portability, and also their style factor. They even have a signature Tieks blue sole and stripe up the back of the shoe for a classy and unique look. Since you can’t try these shoes on before ordering them, how can you be sure you are buying the right size Tieks?

After buying so many pairs of these ballet flats over the years I am going to share whether you should size up or down when ordering Tieks.

What is so special about Tieks?

In case you don’t own a pair of Tieks yet, or maybe you aren’t even sure what I am talking about, I have to tell you the truth about Tieks. They are incredibly comfortable, Italian leather, flexible and fashionable flats (whoa that is a mouthful).

Tieks have definitely gained in popularity, but there still seems to be some people who shy away from these fabulous flats, mainly because they are pricey, but also due to the fact that they can only be purchased at one specific place online.

So this means you can’t try them on before you buy them. For a first time Tieks buyer the question of what size Tieks to order, along with what color to choose can start to drive you crazy.

Buying the right size Tieks

Do Tieks run big or small?

Since Tieks do not come in half sizes, only whole, the question of do Tieks run big or small is one of the top things people want to know before even thinking about buying these shoes.

Tieks are a very flexible type of flat shoe and since they are made with 100% leather that is super supple, they do stretch a bit and will actually start to feel like they are molding to your foot (in a comfortable way).

I always tell people that Tieks run pretty true to size. To make sure you are buying the right size, especially the first time you order, if you wear a 1/2 size then I would order the next full size up instead of sizing down.

For example, I normally wear a size 5 1/2 in women’s shoes, like in my favorite Frye boots and Tory Burch sandals, but in Tieks I wear a size 6.

To test this out I actually ordered and tried on a size 5 the very first time. Size 5, which is a 1/2 size down from my normal shoe size, was too tight.

I contacted Tieks Customer Service and they quickly sent out a size 6 (at no charge) so I could have both at the same time to compare the sizes.

The size 6 Tieks fit perfectly.

Can you wear Tieks with wide feet?

Now, I don’t have wide feet so I can’t tell you this from personal experience, but I have some friends who do and absolutely love Tieks. My feet are “normal” width (not narrow or wide).

The leather that is used to create these shoes is so soft. Once you slip your feet in, they mold and stretch a little to your foot. This is another reason why I love Tieks ballet flats, because they look great on everyone, including kids, like my 9 year old daughter.

Can you return worn Tieks?

Since I am telling you to try on the Tieks for correct sizing, you might be wondering if you can return worn Tieks.

Yes, unworn Tieks can be returned for a refund or exchanged for another size. So the answer is no, you can not return worn Tieks.

I suggest that when trying them on for size, make sure you are simply putting them on in your home to try them for size and comfort.

Ensure that your feet are clean or that you are wearing truly no-show socks so you don’t get the inside of the Tieks dirty.

After you decide which pair you want to keep, simply mail back the other pair free of charge.

I own several pairs of Tieks and love them all. My only issue (if you’d call it such) is the wear I see on the leather at the very back of the heels near the sole. I don’t wear my shoes when driving, I always keep a pair of sandals in my car for this. Since it’s happened on every pair of Tieks I own, I have to wonder if it’s my walking step pattern that causes it to happen. Maybe I have more heel to ground contact than I realize? I will definitely continue adding to my collection, I just wondered if anyone else has the same wear pattern.

Go team Tieks!

This summer, I ordered an 8 Silver Screen and its been miserable breaking them in. They finally feel ok but I didn't take into account that my feet swell daily, so even though I wear an 8, it's been a struggle. Fast forward to Christmas, I remembered your post and thought, "maybe I got the wrong size". I ordered Tangerine and Fuchsia in 9 and they fit perfect! Thanks so much!
