Here Are 5 Best Places To Go Skiing In The US

Winter has arrived and just because the days are shorter and the weather is colder that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. My teenage son loves to snowboard and the rest of my family enjoys skiing and tubing. I decided this winter we will plan some exciting family friendly trips to ski resorts. Thanks to Alamo for sponsoring this post so I can tell you about some of  the best places to go skiing in the US.

Here Are 5 Best Places To Go Skiing In The US

I love checking out Alamo’s Scenic Route when planning travel and you should too. They provide travel stories, guides and advice to help inspire your next travel adventure in a big way.

There are so many great places and resorts to go skiing in the US. If you’re looking for the perfect winter getaway, check out some of these most popular skiing spots.

1. Aspen, Colorado:

Aspen is absolutely beautiful, plus it is the epitome of a winter wonderland. All the beautiful sights of the mountains blanketed by the snow are worth the trip.

Aspen is a world-class ski area and they actually have four different ski areas you can visit for the cost of one ticket. That means you can jump around and see what each area has to offer.

There are at least five ski runs in the Aspen area which vary in difficulty. That means whether you are a beginner or a pro, there is something for everyone.

2. Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Lake Tahoe is one of the most popular places that comes to mind when people think of skiing. The scenery is beautiful and the mountains are visible from every vantage point.

Lake Tahoe is filled with several different resorts, and some offer machine-made powder while others are packed with snow. They have slopes with varying levels of difficulty, so it’s a perfect place for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Lake Tahoe can be accessed from both Nevada and California, which makes it a huge tourist town.

3. Park City, Utah:

Park City is known for its skiing and snowboarding attractions. It has even hosted various Olympic events in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

There are plenty of versatile skiing courses that vary from beginner level all the way up to the Olympic level skiers.

Park City would make for a great vacation spot for any skier, plus it’s only about 35 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, which makes it easy to fly in and rent a car ahead of your vacation.

4. Breckenridge, Colorado:

Breckenridge is one of the United States’ most famous skiing destinations. During the winter season Breckenridge visitors ski along the Tenmile Range, which is a mountain range that is part of the Rocky Mountains.

There are over 12 mountain peaks throughout the Tenmile Range that vary in difficulty and make for an enjoyable skiing experience for people of all skill levels.

If you’re quite the daredevil, Breckenridge may be for you as it is home of the highest ski lift in America!

5. Vail, Colorado

As I’m sure you’ve noticed from this list, several popular skiing locations are in Colorado.

Did you know Colorado is the most popular state for skiing in the United States due to it being the home of the Rocky Mountains?

Vail is the largest ski area in Colorado and what makes it a great vacation spot are the activities (skiing and non-skiing related) and attractions such as ice-skating, snowshoeing and enjoying scenic views on a gondola ride. Keep in mind that a visit to Vail tends to be on the pricier side.

These are just a few of some of the most popular and best places to go skiing in the US. A ski trip is a great way to spend a family vacation during the winter season.

If you are planning a ski trip of your own, be sure to consider your family’s skill level. I like these five destinations because they range in difficulty which means, whether you’re experienced or a beginner, all levels will have a good time enjoying the slopes.
