Galaxy’s Edge Opening Day Overview: Cuisine, Merchants and More

There is huge Disney excitement over Galaxy’s Edge opening, which will be happening very soon. The summer and fall opening dates for the Disneyland and Walt Disney World locations are May 31st and August 29th! Although these dates are right around the corner, not everything will be available upon the opening of the new lands.

Rise of the Resistance has an undetermined opening date, but it sounds like it is going to be the biggest, most immersive Disney attraction ever! The 38 minute ride will feature a trackless system and multiple experiences throughout.

Although the opening dates are fast approaching, not everything will be available at Star Wars Land. Here's a Galaxy's Edge opening day overview.

Here’s a Galaxy’s Edge opening day overview.

Millenium Falcon

Although the major attraction will not be ready yet in either park, the rest of the new Star Wars Land is going to be epic.

There is one ride I know everyone is dying to experience, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Brand new Lucasfilm technology enables guests to pilot the famed starship and perform other tasks as crew on board the vessel. The six seater motion simulator will have elements of Mission Space and Star Tours. However, this experience will be totally unique, plus your performance will also impact your reputation in Galaxy’s Edge.

Space Food

Docking Bay 7 is the most recently unveiled food location in Galaxy’s Edge. The Star Wars inspired menu features uniquely plated dishes named for flora and fauna from within that galaxy far, far away. Ronto Roasters should conjure up an image. This food stand will serve up jerky and Ronto Wraps which look like street tacos.

Spoiler alert: no Rontos were harmed.

Star Wars has always been controversial among fans. You can show loyalty to your favorite saga at the Milk Stand when you choose which color milkshake to order. The choices are green and blue.

Then there is Oga’s Cantina where a droid acts as DJ while you lay low and indulge in one of several specialty beverages made just for Galaxy’s Edge.

Merchants and their Wares

In the busy marketplace of Black Spire, you will find the usual merchants in addition to some exclusive opportunities like droid building and lightsaber assembly. But there is so much more to this wonderfully immersive marketplace. As you browse the toys and games, don’t be surprised to find chance cubes or a game of Sabacc. You can also try a high stakes game at Oga’s.

Another merchant in Black Spire has some bizarre creatures to adopt. Bina’s Creature Stall, Toydarian Toymaker, Black Spire Trading Post, Don-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Savi’s Lightsabers, Mubo’s Droid Depot, all have wonderful backstories behind the shops and their proprietors.

The whole area is ready for you to join the story so you can have an adventure of your own.

On top of the Galaxy’s Edge opening news, there is also something else Star Wars to look forward to…
