Over the last few days I have been instantly catapulted into the realization that winter is upon us and there isn’t anything that I can say or do to stop it! – Except for moving to Florida where today is a sunny 82 degrees, (hint, hint to my husband Keith!)
The snow started to fall on Sunday, and then this morning it really fell, which gave kids a most anticipated SNOW DAY!
Besides the fact that I am a complete grouch when it comes to the cold weather, winter and especially snow and ice, it was really heartwarming to see how excited my kids got (when they finally decided to wake up this morning) and look at the snow prettily blanketing the world around them.
I will admit that hearing my son talk with excitement about going sledding and spending most of his day in the snow with his friends brought back a flood of memories of my childhood. It reminded me of when I would go sledding down large hills at the local park with all of my friends for hours, then discuss the day’s fun with red, chapped faces, while drinking lots of hot chocolate! Ahhh, those were the carefree days!
One of my favorite things about social media is getting the opportunity to see all my friends families as they go through their daily lives and grow and change. I kept thinking as I checked my Facebook feed today, how despite the fact that I am not a fan of snow, most of our kids definitely are, and I’m happy that they got a break from their busy lives to just play and enjoy this SNOW DAY.
Please tell me some ways that you and/or your kids enjoyed today’s SNOW DAY!
Snow can be such a pretty sight to see, especially when it’s on a snow covered tree, (and not my car!):
