Do you remember what it was like to be a teen?
Well I thought I did until I became the parent of one. My son is 14 years old now and I am quickly being reminded about all the many changes that happen during these years.
Thanks to Rainbow Light for partnering with me on this post so I can share about the necessary nutrients teens need to keep them fueled as they grow, along with 5 simple ways to teach your teen good habits.
I have to admit each day it surprises me more and more that the little boy I once knew has been replaced by a young man whose voice almost seems to get deeper by the day.
Potty training and teaching him how to ride a 2-wheeled bike have been replaced with conversations about health, wellness, acne, dating, college visits and more.
Teens seem to be so busy these days between school, sports, activities and social calendars that we need to ensure they are taking care of themselves.
I have encouraged my teenage son to make Rainbow Light vitamins a part of his daily morning routine. They help give his immune system the boost it needs to protect him from cold and flu germs so he doesn’t have to miss out on the things he loves the most, like playing basketball.
Instead of me having to remind my teen to take his vitamins each day, especially on basketball game day, I created a routine of good habits for him that is perfect for any teen.
5 Simple Ways To Teach Your Teen Good Habits
1. Make sure they nourish themselves from the inside out by taking their vitamins.
Lead by example with your whole family getting an immune boosting start to each day by taking Rainbow Light® organic multivitamins together each morning. I feel confident in giving, especially my son, these gluten-free, vegetarian and free of artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives vitamins, so he can have the nutrients he needs as a growing teen. One of my teen’s favorite things about Rainbow Light multivitamins is that they promote clear and healthy skin.
Fun Tip: I surprise my son each morning by leaving his Rainbow Light multivitamins on a different page of a motivational quote book. He looks forward to reading the quote each day while no longer forgetting to take his vitamins.
2. Encourage your teen to stay active and exercise.
Being active is essential to your teen’s health and wellbeing.
It can also help lessen stress, which is so important during the teenage years.
3. Make sure your teenager gets the appropriate amount of sleep.
If your teen is anything like mine, then they probably like to go, go, go. I didn’t even realize that it is recommended for teens to get about 9-10 hours of sleep per night. With so many changes taking place within then teenage years they need rest for their bodies to repair, restore and grow.
Sleep promotes healthy brains, so encouraging sleep plus taking Rainbow Light multivitamins each day can only make for a winning combination.
4. Ensure that your teen stays hydrated.
Many teens lack proper hydration. They need to be aware that our cells, tissues and organs rely on water to work properly and so does our skin.
Drinking water, at least 8 ounces a day is such an important things for teens to get in the habit of doing.
Tip: I keep my teenage son’s reusable water bottle filled up and ready to go each morning right next to his Rainbow Light multivitamins and his basketball (which he loves to dribble everywhere he goes).
5. Teach your teen to eat good foods.
Don’t let your teen fill up on junk, fast, processed foods or soda, which lacks vitamins, minerals and other key nutrients.
Teens, especially boys, need more calories during this stage of development. This is where Rainbow Light multivitamins are perfect for providing nutritional support that is specifically formulated for not only your growing teen, but the whole family.
